Who are ONDECK Sailing?

Ondeck Sailing has been operating as a RYA registered sailing school for over 10 years. The business was acquired in early 2004 and re-formed as ONDECK Sailing Group under the Directorship of Peter Anthony (founding director of Elan Computing), Mike and Charlotte Williams. The business aim is to expand the charter division to individuals, groups and businesses. ONDECK Group purchased four Farr 65s in December in 2004, 2 new Beneteau 40.7s in 2005 and recently acquired 2 brand new Dehler 39 sqs in 2006.

The investment in yachts means the company has built on the existing sea school business to offer a full range of sailing activity aboard high performance yachts for skippered charter, corporate sailing, race charter, mile building opportunities, cruising, adventure sailing trips, ocean passages and Caribbean charters.

Our Fleet

A unique feature to the charter operation is ownership of an unrivalled fleet of identical 65ft ocean racing yachts (Farr 65s) and 40ft racer/cruisers (Beneteau 40.7s and Dehler 39s) designed for non-experts and run by our patient and friendly professional skippers and mates.

The 2 Dehler 39s are also utilised as sea school yachts for Ondeck's Sea School division. The courses are run by qualified instructors approved by UK's industry's regulator, the Royal Yachting Association (RYA).

The Farr 65s are berthed at Gunwharf Quays Marina, Portsmouth.

Gunwharf Quays is situated at the entrance to Portsmouth Harbour. It is easily accessible by car and rail links. Gunwharf Quays is a large shopping, leisure and marina complex in an historic setting with the naval dockyard and Old Portsmouth only a few minutes walk away.

It is now easily landmarked by the 170m Spinnaker Tower adjacent to the marina. Once you have booked a charter with us, we will send out joining instructions, which give full directions, kit list, train and car parking details

Crew and safety

All yachts are maintained and operated by our team of professional skippers and mates - all are Commercially Endorsed Yacht Masters, have First Aid certificates and are fully qualified Instructors for the sea school.

Ondeck Sailing staff are experienced sailing professionals and their expertise lies in the ability to safely conduct any sailing events with experienced sailors and complete novice crew. This includes company team building days, inshore and offshore racing events, corporate hospitality, private cruising, cross channel trips and ocean passages. On every sailing, all crew and passengers are given a comprehensive safety briefing including location of safety equipment and emergency procedures before leaving the dock.

The safety of the crew and vessel is paramount on any sailing trip. Our yachts are equipped to the highest safety Marine Coastguard Agency Category, and are fully equipped with First Aid kit, life jackets, safety lines, life rafts, EPIRB and carry a comprehensive medical kit for Offshore passages
