Ondeck Fastnet Campaign 2011

RORC ROLEX Fastnet Race 2013 Campaign

Following on from our Fastnet Campaigns for previous events, Ondeck are pleased to announce the campaign for The Rolex Fastnet Race 2013.

The Fastnet Race offers the novice and experienced sailor alike, a great sailing adventure!

Join the fleet of 300 yachts as they battle each other, and the elements, to compete in one of yachting's greatest offshore races. The Rolex Fastnet Race leaves Cowes and heads down the English Channel, before rounding Land's End and heading across the exposed Irish Sea.

Once around the Fastnet Rock, the final leg circles the Scilly Isles before the dash to Plymouth and a welcome celebration ashore.

The Fastnet Race Route - Part of the RORC Fastnet Race 2011 Campaign from Ondeck Sailing

In total the Rolex Fastnet Race covers just over 600 miles of challenging offshore conditions. This race really is for the truly adventurous and, consequently, as with other offshore races, is not without an element of risk.

To fully prepare you for this race, Ondeck has compiled a full programme of training, which exceeds the minimum requirements of the Royal Ocean Racing Club. This training includes fully RYA accredited Sea Survival, and ISAF Offshore Safety Courses, a race training weekend, and 3 RORC qualifying races one of which is exclusive to Ondeck.

In total our campaign offers you approximately 1100 miles of offshore racing, in the excellent hands of our skippers. All aspects of the campaign will be carried out on our Farr 65 Yachts, all of which meet the most stringent of MCA requirements for ocean racing. This ensures that you are in the safest possible hands. The boats were designed to sail around the world and as such handle offshore conditions such as those potentially experienced on the Rolex Fastnet Race with ease. These boats are raced with a compliment of 17 including the skipper, 1st Mate and 2nd Mate.

Recommended Previous Experience

None required, however, before completing in the Rolex Fastnet Race itself all crew must have completed a minimum of 300nm in RORC Offshore Racing as a crew, and must have completed the ISAF Offshore and RYA Sea Survival Courses.
