Ondeck Riding On Wave Of Success
Solent and Caribbean based charter events and training company, Ondeck, has ended the UK season on the crest of a wave. 2007 has been a record year for Ondeck, which has seen it experience 85% growth; announce a strategic alliance with Team Pindar, acquire London based sea school Capital Sailing and recruit some high calibre industry names. The company has also expanded its bases in Gosport, the US Virgin Islands and Antigua.
Experienced sailor and RYA examiner, Ian Jinks recently joined the team, being appointed Principal of the fast growing Sailing and Powerboat School. Ian has already helped to raise the profile of the company after writing the RYA Basic Navigation and Safety course, launched by Dame Ellen MacArthur DBE. Students can benefit from courses overseen by the RYA author. Ian also carries out training for the RYA as a shorebased instructor examiner and is responsible for school product development, as well as expanding the school into overseas markets.
Marine expert Frank Trotman joined the company in November as Global Marine Manager, based in Gosport. Frank, formerly of the British Offshore Sailing School and United Kingdom Sailing Academy, will be responsible for managing Ondeck’s international and UK operations teams. He is a qualified commercial yacht surveyor.
Ondeck is also making waves in the Caribbean. Liz Holder, a very popular Ondeck skipper and Business Development Manager, has been dispatched to Antigua as Business Manager. She will be using her extensive experience to run the operation, develop the business and support the company’s prominent involvement in the prestigious racing events of the Caribbean calendar, including Antigua Sailing Week.
Earlier this month, Ondeck announced taking over the management of the Team Pindar commercial charter offering for external customers, including the new Open 60, the Volvo 60 and Pindar’s unique corporate hospitality vessel Hatherleigh. The deal is reportedly set to earn both firms in excess of £1 million in additional revenue. Ondeck’s existing fleet includes high performance Farr 65s, Farr 40’s, Beneteau 40.7s and Dehler 39s.
Chairman of Ondeck, Pete Anthony, commented: “It has been a fantastic year for Ondeck here in the UK and we are looking forward to continuing success in the Caribbean over the winter. Our new appointments have strengthened the team and our partnership with Team Pindar will provide sailors of all levels of ability to experience a truly fabulous sailing experience.”
