The RYA Coastal Skipper/ Yachtmaster Theory course is the last navigational theory course before taking the RYA Yachtmaster Offshore qualification. During the RYA Coastal skipper/ Yachtmaster Theory course you have the chance to increase your accuracy and gain an in-depth knowledge in navigation, meteorology and seamanship, expanding on the knowledge already achieved at Day Skipper level. There will be new things to learn including stability and passage making offshore.
During the RYA Coastal Skipper / Yachtmaster Theory course you will take three assessments - the first on meteorology; the second on Chart work and the last assessment is on the 'Rules of the Road' which you will need to get over 80% to pass. It is highly recommended that you revise the collision regulations before attending the course and have acquired the Day Skipper knowledge before doing this course to ensure successful completion..
