The Yachtmaster Preparation course is a 5-day course, followed by 2 days for the exam. During the Yachtmaster Preparation course the instructor will try to polish off your existing skills, and fill in any cracks as necessary, to help you pass the exam. The Yachtmaster Preparation course is ideally suited for persons wanting to get a professional qualification for the sailing industry, or for someone who just wants to be tested. This course is therefore taught by one of our most experienced instructors.
During this "Prep" week, the instructor is not able to teach the entire RYA syllabus, and so the student should ensure that they meet the minimum criteria above, and satisfy themselves that they have sufficient skippering experience. The "Prep" week consists of long days, particularly during the summer months, as it is essential that you get the opportunity to sail at night, and students should be prepared for it, however all of our previous students leave the course "happily tired".
On the Thursday the instructor will give you a realistic debrief on what they expect your chances to be during the exam, and the expected outcome.
