Coastal Skipper Practical - Power Course from Ondeck Sailing

This course is designed to give the experienced Day Skipper the additional skills required to undertake longer passages. Skippering on more demanding passages requires good leadership and seamanship skills, as well as a clear understanding of advanced chartwork and electronic navigation techniques.

During this course, your experienced instructor will guide you, as you plan and execute passages, and take full command of the motor cruiser. You will learn how to navigate and carry out pilotage at night, and in restricted visibility, as well as weather forecasting and preparing the yacht for sea. By the end of the course you should be able to bring the boat alongside in any conditions of wind or tide, and be able to carry out various manoeuvres under sail.

If the weather permits, a longer coastal passage will be carried out. Regular debriefs will keep you up to speed, allowing you to continue improving throughout the course.
