As you go further afield, the need for a greater understanding and proficiency in how to deal with medical emergencies becomes more important.
This is a 5-day course, and is designed for seafarers who will be responsible for medical care on-board a ship. During this course you will become fully familiar with how to use the Ship Captains Medical Guide and how to carry out basic testing so that you can become the eyes, ears, and hands of the doctor at the end of the radio. You will be taught how to carry out some medical procedures such as suturing, urine testing, catheterisation, and how to administer injections. There will be a big emphasis on how to care for a sick patient whilst you are awaiting outside assistance.
Ondeck, are able to offer MCA approved training that meets the requirements of STCW 95, as well as teaching in a way that can be best utilised by yachtsmen.
This course is also included as part of the Fast Track professional upgrade programme. |
