Race Training Courses from Ondeck Sailing and Powerboat School

Our Beneteau 40.7 race-training will be run by an experienced racing skipper. Over the course of 5 days you will be taken through what makes a racing yacht successful. We will start by identifying what a ‘perfect’ performance would look like and, by breaking this model down into the individual component parts, we will be able to build a structure for us to create a championship winning performance.

You will understand how success is dependant upon crew interaction and how this can only be achieved through each individual fully understanding their role and responsibilities. You will investigate and learn how each individual can contribute their maximum enabling the team to become ‘greater than the sum of its component parts’.

On top of the boat handling, boat speed and basic tactics, we will also look at other factors that contribute to peak performance as a crew and as individuals. We will identify how clear communication, co-ordination and the choreography of the crew helps us improve boat performance. We will also look at how mental game strategies, physical application and specific techniques help each individual contribute their best performance.

We will also look at Additional Race Course skills including headsail and spinnaker peels, plus various combinations of these 4, core manoeuvres.

This is the perfect accompaniment to anybody doing Cowes Week, a Fastnet Campaign, club racing, or thinking about racing on their own boat.
