RYA Day Skipper 9-Day Combined Course

Why not complete your Day Skipper Theory and your Day Skipper Practical in just one week? This course develops the competent crew into a novice skipper. We run this course at least once a month throughout the year.

As one of our most popular courses not only does it reduce the time off work required to get your Day Skipper qualification but the intensity of the course allows students to put the theory skills learned in the classroom immediately into practice out on the water.

Courses begin on the Saturday morning with 4 days of theory learning from our fantastic classroom facilities. The Day Skipper Theory Course gives you a comprehensive introduction to chart work, navigation and meteorology. During this time you will need to find your own shoreside accommodation however there are plenty of good value B&Bs within walking distance of the school.

On the Tuesday evening you will join the yacht for the all inclusive practical element of the course. During this time you will have the opportunity to put into practice the navigational skills that you have acquired in the classroom. You will also learn how to take charge on deck for bringing the boat alongside, picking up mooring buoys, and anchoring.

At the end of the course, successful students will be awarded both Day Skipper Theory and Day Skipper Practical certificates. You can then apply to the RYA for your International Certificate of Competence. (ICC)

Having completed this course with us and if you have your VHF licence you are then also eligible to bareboat charter one of our Yachts either in the UK or Portugal.
