The Ondeck Bermuda Atlantic Adventure

The ONDECK Bermuda Atlantic Challenge 2013

Bermuda - Azores - Portsmouth, UK

The Bermuda Atlantic Challenge sees our matched fleet or Farr 65s cross the Atlantic from Bermuda to the beautiful islands of the Azores and on to Portsmouth in the UK.  Crews can expect to experience variable and challenging weather conditions as they complete this West to East Atlantic crossing and there are no better yachts to experience this type of sailing on than our Farr 65 round the world racing yachts.

The Bermuda Atlantic Challenge is split into two legs each no longer than two weeks in duration and options are available to complete the RYA Ocean Yachtmaster qualification as part of this event.

Leg 1 : Bermuda – Horta (Azores) Approx. 2,000nm
Leg 2: Horta (Azores) – Portsmouth (UK) Approx. 1,200nm

Leg #1 : Bermuda to Horta (Azores) - 2,000nm

Crews will join the yachts on the stunning island of Bermuda, dotted in the Western Atlantic ocean. From here the yachts will head out into the Atlantic, travelling East bound towards the striking volcanic islands of the Azores. This 2,000nm passage of challenging sailing will leave you with an immense sense of achievement as you first cast your eyes on the dramatic mountains of the Azores rising vertically our of the ocean.

Horta, our arrival port, is on the island of Faial and is well known by the sea-faring community around the world. You will be able to share your tales of adventure with many Atlantic sailors in the famous Peter Café Sport Bar (sponsors of this event) where a refreshing gin and tonic (two doubles for £1) is the drink of tradition.
